Handler of the Year Awards 2024
Samantha and Todd
With this award we celebrate not just talent and success, but perseverance, patience, and the incredible bond between a woman and her dog. A rescue foxhound is not the first breed that comes to mind when you think of agility. And in the beginning, it wasn’t easy—focus was a challenge, and the first few modules didn’t go quite as planned. But here’s what makes Samantha extraordinary: she never gave up. She never got frustrated, never let setbacks define their journey, and never measured success by ribbons or scores. She celebrated every small step, every moment of progress, and she always believed in Todd.
Holly and Willow
At just 13 years old, Holly has already demonstrated a level of dedication and passion that is nothing short of inspiring. From the moment she brought Willow into her life, Holly didn’t just become a dog owner—she became a trainer, a teammate, and most importantly, a best friend. Owning a dog was her dream, but dreams don’t come true without hard work. And that’s exactly what Holly has put in—countless hours of training, patience, and unwavering commitment.
Steph and Four
Four’s story began at Manchester Dogs Home, where her future was uncertain. But fate had other plans. When Steph welcomed Four into her life, she didn’t just give her a home—she gave her a purpose. And nurtured her natural born talent into the incredible athlete she is today. This year, Steph and Four achieved something truly extraordinary—they were selected to represent Great Britain in Belgium! Amongst so many other accomplishments, this is a testament to their bond, their hard work, and the unshakable connection they share. Steph took a rescue dog and turned her into a champion—not just in competition, but in spirit.
